Absolutely not. Unlike many big-box dealers, Recreation USA does NOT charge for Freight, Prep, Walk-throughs or Detailing. The price you see is what you pay. No surprises.

Why is your pricing lower than other dealers?

We operate with a low-overhead business model and believe in volume sales with fair margins. We’d rather sell more families their dream RV at a great price than overcharge a few.

Where is Recreation USA located?

We serve the entire Grand Strand! We have locations in Longs, SC and Myrtle Beach, SC, making us the premier dealer for North Myrtle Beach, Conway, and the surrounding areas.

Can I buy an RV from you if I live out of state?

Yes! A large portion of our customers come from out of state because of our competitive "Internet Pricing." We can handle the transaction remotely and arrange delivery.

Are you a corporate chain or family-owned?

We are a locally owned and operated dealership. When you buy from us, you’re supporting a local South Carolina business that prioritizes relationships over corporate quotas.

Do you really offer free walk-throughs?

Yes. We will never let you leave the lot guessing. Every purchase includes a comprehensive orientation with a certified technician (approx. 1-2 hours) to show you how to use your slides, awnings, and systems—at no extra cost.

Can I sleep in my new RV on your lot before I leave?

We are not able to offer a stay on our lot but we have many nearby partner campgrounds to test everything out while you are still close to our service center.

Do you have a referral program?

Yes, we value your trust. Ask our sales manager about our referral rewards when you send friends or family to join the Recreation USA family.

What makes Recreation USA different from private sellers?

Safety and security. Private sellers can't offer financing, trade-ins, or certified inspections. We inspect our units, handle the DMV paperwork, and ensure the title is clear, protecting you from fraud.

What is the biggest mistake first-time RV buyers make?

Buying the wrong floorplan for their lifestyle. Don't just look at the colors; imagine a rainy day inside. Is there enough seating? Can you access the bathroom with the slides in?

Should I buy New or Used for my first RV?

New offers different limited warranty protection and no "wear and tear." Used campers at Recreation USA are also fully inspected and the ones that pass inspection 100% are cleaned and you can rest assured you are getting a remarkable pre-loved unit at an amazing price.

What is a "Destination Trailer" vs. a Travel Trailer?

A Destination Trailer is designed to be parked in one spot for months (like a vacation cottage) and has residential appliances/sliding doors. A Travel Trailer is built to be towed frequently down the highway.

Do I need a special driver’s license to drive an RV?

In South Carolina and most states, no. A standard driver’s license covers most RVs. Special licenses are usually only required for massive motorhomes over 26,000 lbs.

What is "Boondocking"?

Boondocking (or dry camping) is camping without water, electric, or sewer hookups. If you plan to do this, look for RVs with larger tanks, solar panels, and generators. Check out our best boondocking units!

Is an RV a good investment?

RVs are an investment in lifestyle, not financial appreciation. Like cars, they depreciate. However, they save you thousands on hotels, airfare, and dining out over time.

How do I choose the right floorplan?

Ask yourself: How many people need beds? Do I need a home office? Do I cook inside or outside? We help you match these answers to our inventory.

Can I live in an RV full-time?

Yes, many people do! However, ensure the RV is rated for "Full-Time Living" or "Four Season" use if you plan to face extreme weather.

What is the best time of year to buy?

Fall and Winter are historically great times to buy as we clear space for new models, but Recreation USA offers competitive pricing year-round.

What accessories do I need immediately?

You will need a sewer hose, fresh water hose, pressure regulator, wheel chocks, and specific electrical adapters. Check out our parts catalog online.

How much down payment do I need?

Typically 10% to 20%. However, well-qualified buyers with strong credit (740+) may qualify for zero down programs. Try our pre-qualify application first without hurting your credit and we can guide you from there.

Can I get financing with bad credit?

Yes. We work with specialized lenders who help customers with "challenged" credit. A larger down payment often helps secure approval.

What are typical RV loan terms?

Because RVs are large assets, loans can stretch 10, 15, or even 20 years, keeping your monthly payments surprisingly low—often less than a car payment.

Is RV loan interest tax-deductible?

Often, yes! The IRS may classify your RV as a "second home" if it has a bed, kitchen, and bathroom, allowing you to deduct the interest. Consult your tax professional.

What is GAP Insurance and do I need it?

GAP covers the difference between what you owe and what the RV is worth if it’s totaled/stolen. If you put less than 20% down, we highly recommend it to prevent being "upside down."

Do you offer "Buy Here, Pay Here"?

No, we facilitate financing through reputable national and local banks/credit unions to ensure you get the best rates and legal protection.

Does my monthly payment include insurance?

No, you must purchase a separate RV insurance policy. We can recommend providers who specialize in RV coverage.

How much should I budget for maintenance?

A safe rule of thumb is to budget $500–$1,000 annually for routine maintenance (seals, bearings, winterizing) to keep your rig in top shape.

Are there tax advantages to trading in?

In South Carolina (and many states), you only pay sales tax on the difference between the new RV price and your trade-in value, saving you money.

Can I refinance my RV loan later?

Yes, just like a mortgage, if rates drop or your credit improves, you can refinance your RV loan.

How do you determine my trade-in value?

We use NADA guides, current market demand, and a physical inspection of your unit’s condition (tires, roof, interior). Fill out our Trade-in evaluation form to see what you trade-in is worth in today's market.

Can I trade in a motorized RV for a towable one?

Absolutely. We accept all types of RV trade-ins, whether you are upsizing to a Fifth Wheel or downsizing to a small Class C.

I still owe money on my trade. Can I still trade it?

Yes. We will pay off your existing loan. If you owe more than it’s worth (negative equity), the difference can often be rolled into your new financing.

Why is the dealer trade-in offer lower than retail price?

Dealers must recondition, inspect, market, and warranty the unit for the next buyer. The "gap" covers these costs and business risk.

My family grew. What is the best upgrade for kids?

Look for "Bunkhouse" models. These specialized floorplans offer a separate room for kids, giving you privacy and them a place to play. Here are our best Bunkhouse options!

I want to travel more. Should I upgrade to a motorhome?

If you plan to move every 2-3 days, a Motorhome (Class A or C) is convenient. If you plan to park for weeks at a time, a Towable is often more spacious and cost-effective.

Do you buy RVs outright if I don't want to trade?

Yes, there are certain times of the year we often buy clean, late-model RVs. Contact our sales manager for a cash offer appraisal.

What is the "Toy Hauler" advantage?

Even if you don't have ATVs, Toy Haulers offer a flexible "garage" space that can be a patio, office, kennel for large dogs, or handicap-accessible bedroom.

Can I trade a car or boat for an RV?

This varies by case. Please call us to discuss non-RV trades.

When is it time to upgrade?

If your current RV maintenance is costing more than a monthly payment on a new one, or if you find yourself dreading the setup/breakdown process, it’s time to look at modern, easier-to-use models.

What is "Towing Capacity" vs. "Payload"?

Towing Capacity is what your truck can pull. Payload is what your truck can carry (people + cargo + the trailer tongue weight). You typically run out of Payload before Towing Capacity.

Can I tow a travel trailer with an SUV?

Yes, many modern SUVs can tow 3,500–5,000 lbs. We have many lightweight "ultra-lite" trailers specifically for this market. Check out our lightest units.

What is a Weight Distribution Hitch?

It transfers the heavy tongue weight of the trailer to the front axles of your truck, keeping the ride level and safe. We highly recommend this for any trailer over 3,000 lbs.

What is Sway Control?

Sway control uses friction to stop the trailer from wiggling in high winds or when passed by semis. It is a critical safety feature. We sell the 2-in-1 weight distribution and anti-sway hitches.

Do I need a Brake Controller?

If your trailer has electric brakes (most do), YES. It allows you to activate the trailer brakes from the driver's seat.

Can I tow a Fifth Wheel with a "Short Bed" truck?

Yes, but you may need a "Slider Hitch" or a specialized pin box (like a Sidewinder) to prevent the camper from hitting the truck cab during tight turns. We have options for this as an add-on to your deal.

What happens if I exceed my tow rating?

It is dangerous and illegal. It strains your transmission, overheats your engine, and can cause brake failure. We will strictly advise you on what is safe to tow.

How do I know the REAL weight of the RV?

Look for the yellow sticker on the RV door. "UVW" is the empty weight. "GVWR" is the maximum loaded weight. Always base your towing math on the GVWR to be safe.
